I used Zolotone under my hood to try and hide some patches. The painter sprayed it on but said it would not go on thick enough to hide the patches. So was he lying or will it no go on thick enough to hide a sheet metal patch?
since i chopped my top i made a all metal headliner, i used splatter paint for trunks. got it at auto zone. hides all inperfections and can be painted. works great. cheap. comes in rattle can.
How easy do you think it will be to get and keep them clean when you get dirt or mud on them?
I had Rhino liner installed in an F250 several years ago. I cant remember ever having any cleaning problems that a garden hose and nozzel couldn't remove.
After putting that Herculiner coating on my firewall I drove my truck for the first time today. The starter and engine was so quiet I thought the battery was going dead, I put the charger on it just to be sure. It is ok, guess the coating just made it that much quieter.
OK...I bought a spray can of Duplicolor for the firewall. The can said paintable, but there were no instructions. (scuff, primer, etc.) So I called the customer service and they said that the heat under the hood would make it peel. Has anyone had a peeling problem with any of the bedliner coating?
I filled the holes in my firewall (there were many) and ues a little body filler and sprayed on rustoleum primer and satin black paint as a temporary band-aid so that it would look quasi decent until I could blow the truck apart for bodywork and paint sometime in the future. (there are pics in my gallery)
I like the thought of the rhinoliner as undercoating, its amazing stuff and hard as he**. I've seen it used in the oil field on the rig floors of drilling rigs.
The Herculiner instructions say once it's on forget trying to remove it. So if anyone is thinking about using it, besure that rough texture is what you want.
DELZELL...there probaly isn't any paint or coating that will cover a patch that isn't flush with the surface you patched..I don't know what kind of patch you have but your painter may be right....Hey you live in my area, good to see someone localy here
f.y.i mcmillan fiberglass makes a engine side firewall cover for about 125.00 i think i have one but havent got far enough along to use it . it is paintable if you desire 4t8-fi
