I have a 1955 Custom Cab F100 and I'm trying to remove the crome trim that is around the top of the cab, is there a trick to it or does it not come off? I don't want to mess the trim up, just trying to get it ready for paint. Thanks

Use a bottle opener, one that has a rounded end for opening pop bottles and a sharp piont at the other end for piercing (tomato) cans. The rounded end is the one to use. If you want to protect the trim more put some masking tape on the flat part so it won`t come in contact with the chrome. Hope I explained that well enough to be understood. You could leave the trim on and mask it rather then damage it by trying to remove it.
We used to call that style of bottle opener a "church key" and it was a standard item in the glove box of most any vehicle. I don't remember ever using them to open tomato cans though...lol
Custom cabs are cool: Stainless trim on rain gutter, arm rests, chrome vent strip under windshield and the best was the extra door lock on the driver door!

The style I am thinking of had one end that was pointed and was used to pierce cans, the other end was a bottle opener before the twist offs arrived. No, I am not disclosing my age!
If the trim is in good shape and not loose I agree with the others, just tape it. It may be a pain in the you know what in trying to put the trim back on after you have a nice paint job.
It is not hard if you are shown how but if not the trim could get damaged as it can bend quite easily. Using the bottle opener is one of the few ways to remove it without damage.
