Can someone tell me how to tell if the flexplate I have is a 28 oz imbalance or is it a 50 oz imbalance. I want to make sure before it all gets installed. What is the visible difference?
The 50 oz weight is bigger but you need to know what your looking at. Auto or manual flywheel? I can't reall the actual measurement of the two but I know what it is when I look at it.
There will be a weight welded to the back of the flywheel and for the 50oz I think the weight is about 3 inches long and for the 28oz it's about 2 inch in length and they both should be about 1 inch wide.
If the flexplate you have is from the same donner as the AOD is from?
If so and it came from a 302 you'll have the wrong balance for your older 302.
If it came from a 351w you'll have the older 82 back 28oz. The AOD/351w was only found in the crown vic.
You can take your flexplate to a good mechine shop near you and have it balance correctly without costing to much and to be sure it's right.

Now that was some good advice. I will have to remember this.
