My truck is a '90 and has a few rust spots here and there... on the doors and on the hood and roof. Very VERY harsh winters where I live.... but she don't look bad for her age. The Chebbies around here seem to rust about the same... I think its all about how owners take care of their vehicles.
Ever notice how thin the S-10 sheet metal is... a couple are where I live are rusting to all hell and you could see how poor the quality on them are.
Originally posted by mooktank i htink the fords have more rusted out wheel wells and the chevys always rot out the rocker panels and doors.
yeah, that's just about what I see here too.
Of course, you could always get a Crapalanche or Azztek. Where there's no metal, there's no rust. Just watch out for those mudholes, wouldnt wanna stain the plastic.
Hey fellerz,
I own a '90 Chevy C1500 half-ton truck. I bought it used with 214,000 miles on it, and when I recently washed the truck, it didn't have a speck of rust on it. It's been used a lot down here around Texas and the surrounding states, and it was the guy's work truck. Yes, the paint is discoloured, seriously in some parts, but, as I actually think, I do have some rust. There's some on the bumper, only a small amount, where the bumper got hit and the chrome fell off, and also on the primer hood. Apparently someone took a hammer to the original hood, along with some other instruments, while the guy's kid was driving it.
Well the kid got a new hood, but only primed it, never painted it. But it's not rusting out, it's all superficial.
Just my 2 cents
