Just Diesel Engine Noise?

My 2005 F350 PSD makes a faint tapping noise--similar to the clicking noise of a valve lifter--at idle and when driving at a cruising speed. The noise seems to be on the driver's side, and is noticable at idle and when engine is leveled off at a cruising speed...it can't be heard when accellerating. Is this just one of the noises that comes with the 6.0 PSD? Thanks.

With so many viewing my note, but no responses, it appears I may have a noise in my PSD 6.0 that others don't have.

Sounds just like a diesel to me. I'm sure the wise tech will chime in soon.

Disconnect the EGR, this reduced the 'rattling lifter' sound on mine. It was very noticalbe on cold start ups, now it is gone.

I picked up my PSD on April 30th and am still getting used to all the different Diesel noises. It's a definite learning experience. I own a '47 Cat D4 and it doesn't make as many different noises as the Power Stroke.

I hear ticking and clacking noises at different speed and RPM. It goes silent when I let off the throttle but sometimes it lets out a 'chuffing' noise from the air box when I let off. It rattles more when it's cold.
