Oops, Cracked My Passenger Side Mirror, Where To Get Ford OEM Part?
backing outta the garage i misjudged the distance and crack.. the lower part of my passender side mirror cracked, on the corner where the blinker light is....
this is a heated mirror..... looks like i can replace it fairly easily as i saw on the bottom of the mirror there seems to be a plastic cap that will probably come off exposing bolts that hold it on....
question is, where is the best place to get this Ford part?
thanks,

Gonna have to go with e-bay. Check the vendors. Also lots of good places on line.
If you go online vendor, OEM will cost you about 87-89 plus shipping. Ebay has some for 65 or so, but I notice most of the parts are not OEM. They are what a body shop would put on after a collision.
edit
Whoops, just noticed it was heated after I posted. Sorry don't see a price on that at the cheapest place I know.
You might try something like this;
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW
Link is blocked by this site. If you want, go to ebay and search for this number

Good luck

found this from another post here in the forums....
"""Just to let anyone know who may be concerned, I spoke with the parts guy on the phone about these and here are the part #'s for both the drivers and the passengers side. *****NOTE*****These are the F-150 new body style mirrors. They are heated, powered & turn signal. ****4L3Z17683DAB (DRVR.) *****4L3Z17682DAB (PASS.) If you go to.................. http://www.parts.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=getLo...004&catalogid=2 ...........the cost is 85.73 for each one. LOL"""
if this is true, then i should just be able to use the part numbers noted above to search... i did this and found a place that had it for around $81 before shipping......problem is i am not 100% sure that is the right part... might have to call the place to make sure it's for a 05 F-150 and that it's heated, powered, and has the turn signal indicator.....
ugh.....

I will say in defense of 'aftermarket' stuff, most of it is actually built better than a lot of OEM stuff. That's why the M-F law was passed over the Big three's very powerful fight.

how does it go on? do you have to take the door insides off to access the mirror mounts?? this is the passenger side mirror....
i looked tonight and saw a access panel under the mirror (from the outside) and i took the plastic cap off, but no screws or anthing....
pleaese advise... i found a place online that sells it for $81...

Might want to read these. I never changed my mirrors, but taking the front door panel off is no big thing. Take your time, have something clean and soft like a blanket you can lay it on. Hardest part is the two bottom screws on the front speakers. First time takes about ten minutes to pull the panel. Gets easier.
