This best place for ALL engineers for the first 6 mo. on the job is in a shop working on what they will someday design.

Massey did this to a group of new hires back in the late 60's then they put that group to work on a new tractor design. You could actual get at things like the air cleaner to change it with having to remove major sheet metal and the like. Unlike the IH tractor that you had to remover the whole hood to change the air filer. Hoods on farm tractors up to about the last few years are all bolted on and are heavy.

Maybe ALL engineers should be required to work on what they design in a service bay at least 2 weeks of every year. BOY WOULD THINGS CHANGE!
