My father is looking for some info on a 1980-something Mustang that someone modified to get about 80 MPG. He thinks it had a Perkins Diesel in it. I'm too young to remember all but the late 80's, so any help would be greatly appreciated...

1995 Bronco- Eddie Bauer, 351W, E40D, too much to list....
1989 F-150- XL, 4x4, 302, M50D, much more to come...
I heard (on the radio)it was a GRENADA that a farmer had installed a three cylinder Perkins. It was in North or South Carolina, six people rode to Phoenix and back, and they averaged 87 MPG. I'd love to see how they hooked up the trans and all, cause I'd like to build one myself.
Knew some guys that did the same thing with an Econoline back in the late '70s. They spent weeks building brackets, etc but never got to run very well.
During that same era, there were kits to put airplane wings on your Pinto and have a flying/driving car! If you are riding in that 85mpg Diesel Granada and you get tired, just get out and walk along side of it. Be sure to rest every now and then to let it catch up!
