So I need a new tie rod end and have done some searching here and at parts retailer sites and found that Moog is considered to be a decent part. I looked into Moog (Federal Mogul) online and got the part number for my 96 B4000. On the same page was a listing for both Moog and TRW with the same manufacturer part number: DS1177
I looked on NAPA's site, Schucks and Auto Zone and they all have a part available with the same part number. Schucks has the actual manufacturers listed (different prices between TRW and Moog), but NAPA and AutoZone have their own brand names with this same part number listed.
Anyone else get the feeling that these are probably all the same parts?? In that case, I could just buy the cheapest and go. Does anyone know otherwise?? I don't really want to run from store to store to compare...
Moog is one of the best companies to buy front-end parts from (tie rods, ball joints, etc). I would pay a little extra and buy them from Moog. But, that's just my opinion.
