With that much distance between the butterflies and the ports on the intake, it seems like it would probably have pretty decent low-end. That whole setup is looking pretty choice, can't wait to see it in a rig.

It is a little high. I may have to have the intake milled some to get hood clearance. I will wait until I can mount it on the motor and then check the installed height.

Fascinating project. Thanks for blazing this trail. I really like the 335 but the lack of modern control systems has made me want to abandon this series, but I see some light in your work.
Anyway, still going with EEC-IV?
Grassroots had a very interesting article on Megasquirt recently. The latest Megaquirt II looks very capable.
Anyhow, just interested in if you have investigated MS and what you think.

From what I have heard the Megasquirt system is very good. All aftermarket systems suffer from the same drawbacks, however. This includes Megasquirt, Accel, and Holley.

First, they are Speed Density, bank fired, Multi-port systems.
Two, they are GM based. I.E. they use a lot of GM sensors.

The Ford EEC-IV system is Sequential Port Injection.

Some people prefer Speed Density systems, since they do not require a Mass Air. For racing this is an advantage. The Sequential Port injection is better for any other application.

Here is a good link.

Not all EEC-IV systems are sequential. I'm pretty sure my '90 Tbird's 3.8 is bank fired. I have a book that looks to be full of the same information that you link to there... I paid money for mine though FWIW, the book is called Ford Fuel Injection and Electronic Engine Control: How to Understand, Service, and Modify. It's a decent book, pretty simplistic, though.

Yes, pre '88 5.0's and all 460's and many others are bank fired. As far as I know all new vehicles are sequential.

I have that book also. I paid for it as well.

BTW, since I started this project, I have come across other ways of doing it. If you limit yourself to a 5.0 throttle body, you can purchase a 'Power Elbow', that mounts on a 4 barrel intake.

Here is a link with another interesting item.

http://www.sullivanperformance.com/newintake.htm

I was talking to a fellow at a car show last weekend. He had a Cobra Replica, with a 5.0. But he had a carb manifold with fuel injectors and an adapter which allowed him to use a GM TB mounted horizontally. On top of this he had a Carb type air cleaner. He was running an EEC-IV sequential system. The GM mass air was incorporated into the TB. He had a conversion box between the GM Mass Air and the EEC-IV.

Just a update on my EFI conversion progress.

I have the wiring harness almost complete, just need to tape it up and put sleeving on it.

I have ordered all the fittings and AN hose. I have the Fuel Pump and regulator.

I am currently installing a 21 gallon underbed fuel tank. I hope to have that complete by 12/3, because I want to take the truck to a local Christmas parade. I will be running on carb, from either the old tank or the new tank.

After that I will install the new manifold and TB, connect the fuel system, and harness.

Then I need to work out a few details on the Air Intake system. I think I will need a length of 4" dia. stainless tubing with a 45 degree bend, and a 4" silicone rubber coupling.

Then I will need to obtain a Tweecer to set up the tuning. I have been watching Ebay and some classified web pages to get one at a resonable price. This is the last item I need, so I am bidding conservatively. It could be 2006, before I need the Tweecer.

Y'know I've heard of using wooden carb spacers to help insulate from heat but I've never seen a cardboard one before!

It is an adaptation from Police Cruisers, where it is normally used to keep the donuts fresh.

Here is a picture of my Pump and Filter assembly.

I should have a shot of the Intake and TB assembly mounted on the motor next week.

Danlee, are your running two filters there or just one? One looks like the screw in style that I have seen installed directly into the base of carburetors. That's not a bad idea running two. You'll get some cleaning going on before the fuel enters the pump. Good idea

Yes, I am running a carb type screw-in filter as a prefilter for the pump.
