Thursday and again today (saturday), while I was driving engine (302, MFI) just died. Happened at various speeds. After turning off the key and waiting 30 seconds to a Minute it started right up again. Engine was in normal operating temperature range. Has new plugs, wires, distributor cap/rotor, fuel filter, air filter, throttle body, air/idle valve. No other symptoms, it just stalls . Anyone have suggestions where to start looking?
fuel pump maybe?
Had same problem on an 88 Bronco. Turned out to be the computer ground. The ground is provided by a wire that is directly attached with a connector to the battery negative cable. The connector looked normal but was completely corroded inside. After removing the connector and soldering the ground wire directly, the problem was fixed.
hey, thanks, I checked that connector, and it was corroded inside. Not really badly but enough to interupt a current flow. Cleaned it up.. guess I wait and see if the problem reoccurs.
At what point does the connecter attach to the battery negative cable? At the terminal? I see no connector on mine, but I have additional wires attached to the negative battery cable at the connector.

Follow these wires away from the battery. There should be a junction about 6 inches away that you can unplug. This is the problem area, but acid may have migrated in either direction,so,inspect carefully!

after expirience no change I brought the truck up to the dealer to put on the testing equipment. They ended up replacing the stator and the electronic timing control module on the distributor. The module is mounted on the outside of the distributor with 2 screws and has a heat resistant coating on that goes between to protect the electronics.
I have a 84 Ranger 289 6cyl that almost always stalls when I slow down or stop at high altitudes. Has anyone had that problem and more importantly, how to adjust for this?
Thanks.
