06 Expedition stalling at stop signs
First all good forum. i own a 2006 Ford Expedition limited 5.4L. About 2 weeks ago i was on my way home I was at a stop Sign and the engine just stopped running. so i started it back up and it started. a couple day's later i was driving around and again it stalled out, it took me 30 mins to restart and it sounded like it wasn't getting fuel. so i changed my air filter, and fuel Filter. I took it for a drive it went good for 9 miles and on my way home again it stalled out. also i changed the TPS on the thing. Anyone can help me out or what. i'm doing the Dealer thing at the end of the month so i would like to know what might be wrong. thanks in advance

I had a similar problem. It was accompanied by a "trumpeting" sound coming from the air filter/intake area. Turned out to be the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve. I replaced it and that solved my stalling/cutoff problem. However be warned. I first replaced it with an aftermarket one from Autozone (my favorite auto part store). That stopped the stalling, but it moved the problem to the other direction. Now the truck started surging forward, and you had to step hard on the brake. I immediately removed that one, returned it, and went directly to my local dealer. They asked for my VIN number to get the right one. It cost more of course. I put that one on, and she now runs like brand new. The IAC doesn't kick a Check Engine Light code when bad, or at least not one directly pointing to it.
Hope that helps,

Yes, only dealers can install cats (hence the 49 state legal cat) but I believe emission equipment is warranted for 8 years and 80K. If you are below that you should look into it. The link is dated, but it sounds like someone owes you some $$$.

Your problem sounded like one I had around 75k. I had a hole is the PCV hose leading into the respective valve on the engine. Basically, I was leaking air into the engine causing it to stall every time I came to a complete stop. Cheap fix and is still running today (3 years and 40k later).
