finding a gas saving/power chip???
Superchips is a brand, but I think you are refering to tuners in general?
These trucks don't use the 'hypertech' chip approch, you buy a tuner and up load a more performance oriented program to the PCM.
I have never heard of anybody 'burning' up a tranny with any of the posts. No doubt you could find a way, but using the defaults won't, further, at least with the Superchips brand (I think every one of the other, too) you can decline to put in the quicker/tighter shift. So it is not relevant.
All the tuners will improve power. Not as much as a huge supercharger, but bang for buck, they are not bad.
Improve gas mileage, no, not really. The mind set that adds a tuner seems to be at odds to gas mileage.
That said, on my Reg Cab, 4.6, with Brute Force intake, Superchips tuner on premium tune, Magnaflow Catback, with Tonneau, I got 21.5 yesterday, on a large mixed loop. This was two lane, one third city, two thirds open road.
I hit 80 during one WOT pass around a couple trucks, but mostly held 55-56 mph.
Best segment (I track with a Scangauge) was a 39 miles straight flat at average speed of 55. For that leg, I got 23.8. Not too shabby.
For mileage think about tonneau, better aircleaner, and taking your foot out of the throttle.

I'd go with a lighter foot, then air cleaner, then tonneau. Tonneau last if for no other reason than bang/buck.It's hard for me to know what kind of mileage I could be getting because my wife drives it so much. She drives in only two gears: accellerating and braking.

I usually have mine on 87 octane, but switched up to premium mode, recently and have had problems keeping my foot off of the throttle. My wife is worse.
Mileage is definitely down around town, and to get it back in the 21+ range on the open road requires keeping it mostly under 60.
The tuner is essential after you use one, but on premium tune, driving for mileage is like dieting with a box of donuts on the dashboard...
