There's an intermittent "buzzing" noise coming from the dash of my 2001 Ranger upon acceleration. It seems to be coming from the dash on the passenger side of the cab, and I've taken the top panel off to locate it, but can't see where it's coming from.
Don't that just drive you nuts!
I would try tightening every bolt or screw you can find under the dash and behind the glove box. I had this happen, did that and no more buzzing noises.
Have someone ride with you and see if they can pinpoint the location of the noise. Things I've used to stop noises over the years include silicon grease, foam tape, dab of silicon then reassemble, dab of finger putty then reassemble, realign parts then secure them, fix broken spot welds (GM), and yes, tightening fasteners.
I have an 04' ranger and the cover over the passenger airbag was making a similar noise. I stuffed a strip of foam rubber under it using a credit card. It was just around the end nearest to the radio. The foam rubber I used was about 6" long and about 1/8" around. I also had a buzz / rattle under the stearing column. I removed the panal under the stearing column a put on more strips of foam rubber weather stripping. There was alread some there -- just not enough.
I stuffed an old t-shirt up behind the rear speaker on the driver side to stop the the factory sound deadener from rattling. The dealer said that there was no problem found. haha, thats why i fix everything on it myself now.
