I have a brand new 2006 F-150 SC 4x4 Lariat, and when I start it, there's a strange noise coming from like inside the dash. Is this normal? Sounds like a mechanical noise kinda like an actuator or something, and lasts about 5-10 seconds. I'd appreciate anyone share any simalar experiences. Thanks
It literally sounds like it's coming from behind the instrument panel or the radio. There's no way it could be the fuel pump in my opinion. It almost sounds like it could be something to do with the climate control system or something. My wife thinks it's the adjustable pedals, could it?
I'll bet you also have the electronic climate control system. if so, try changing the temp from hot->cold or cold->hot and see if you can duplicate the problem. I plan to contact my Ford dealer to inquire about the problem.
Yes, I do have the climate control. Last night I turned off the climate control, to see if it does it next time I start the truck. I guess it could be normal as long as everything works. I've heard other strange noises coming from climate controls of other vehicles.
Open Up The Glove Compartment, with The Engine Off,turn The Ac System On And You Should Be Able To Pinpoint The Noise.its Coming From The Fresh Air Door Motor Pivot Arm.i Used A Q Tip With Some Light Weight Grease And A Long Pair Of Needle Nose Pliyers.get The Grease To Go In The Gate Of The Arm And Turn The Ac System Off And On A Couple Of Times And It Should Take Care Of The Noise.for How Long I Dont Know But It Beats A Trip To The Dealer.
Thanks guys! I will attempt the q tip with the grease. I'm sure 9 times out of 10 the dealer service guy will say it's normal anyway. You're talking like silicone grease right? Thanks again.
I had to go back outside and check my truck and then talk to a buddy of mine about it. He told me that it was in fact the actuator for the door for the fresh air on the a/c system.
