Mid-Speed hesitation
My 95 F-150 5.0L has a strange hesitation that always kicks in between 45 - 50 mph. The engine starts, idles and gears up fine, but when cruising in this range, the hesitation is strong enough to actuall feel. Accelerating clears it, but that is not always possible, especially in traffic.
Any thoughts?

Assuming your truck has auto trans it could be the overdrive or lock up thats coming in and out at that speed range.Sometimes this is considered normal as long as it holds good below and above that speed range.The only mechanical adjustment is the TV cable depending on the trans type.Of coarse you should service the trans filter and oil if you have lacked the normal changes recently.I might suggest a new fuel filter also if that wasn't part of your last tune up.

I'm with Phil on this one. I've got the same thing happening on my 91 F150. It's got the E4OD tranny which is electronic if you're not familiar. Same type of hesitation at around 45-50mph. Thought it was a problem too but have done some experiments with other vehicles and found the same problem if they've got an electronic tranny.
For me the kicker was that my wife's Saturn does the same thing around 25-30mph when the OD is engaged. I've told myself it's normal on the truck and just decided to live with it.
