Question '87 F-250 body mount help

I have had a set of body mounts for my f-250 for some time. Finally got motivated to replace them and ran into a big problem. I can't get the old ones off! they seam to be glued together (or fused) and nothing i tried can get them apart.... anybody have an ideas? i have been working on this truck for years, trying to make it a little better each time - i'd like to get these new mounts in

I had the same problem on my 87 F-150. After some time they do get fused together. I have read that some take and thread the bolt in from the underside and use a weight or puller to dislodge them, which usually deforms the bottom sleeve. I did not have any luck with anything that I tried. Actually I had to cut most of the bolts off because they where rusted solid. The quickest way, if there is one, is to take a saws-all and cut them off. This does destroy the sleeves but even after I cut mine off I still could not get the rubber off of the sleeves. Jeffs Bronco Graveyard has the sleeves either seperate or as a kit with new bolts. It will save time and frustration ( I tried for hours on end to get mine apart ) to just replace the sleeves. Good luck.

Oh by the way if you have never tried to cut rubber your in for a treat there also.

If your problem is removing the bolts then you might definately want to saw them off. If the problem is not removing the bolts but separating the body from the mounts, you might want to use a jack to lift the body, close to the mount were you are working at the time and do the exchange, it will make things easier. Hope this helps.

It's amazing how you find out little things that you take for granted. Take the sleeves that are in the bushings. These are somewhat hard. I went through a new blade on about every other bushing. Abelmoreno is right, if you jack up the body close to the bushing it will be easier. Unfortunately there is no room either way. I was replacing the body so I had all the room needed and it was still difficult. You would think that rubber would be that hard to cut through. Really it is not but the vibration will take its toll real quick. If you can get them cut off close the the frame you can then take them and burn the rubber off and reuse the sleeves. This is really good for irritating your neighbors when they are trying to grill out. (oops) Good luck

Easy to remove. Thread bolt partway in from top. Large hammer; maybe small sledge. Drive bolt down like a nail. Hit square. Mounts are pressed in; male/female, then swedged to lock.

Ok you probably figured out using a sawsall on these types of body mount sleeves was a bigger job than needed.. I just happen to be reading post for body mounts and I will tell you guys ( some of the goof ***** ) telling you to use a saws all to cut away the sleeves are dumb$%#%$# this is what you have to do
#1Get your seats out of the way
#2 remove carpet if you want
#3 remove 1 side of cab mounting bolts loosen the other side but dont remove #
#4 lift cab only about 2 inches if that.
#5 (the trick) the sleeves are 3/4 of an inch on the inside Use a 3/4" drill bit and have a buddy with a # 22 socket hold the bottom of the sleeve as you drill out the lower sleeve about 3/8" use a punch after putting a bolt in from the under side.... Knock them out clean the edges of the hardware put on your mounts lock the the bolts with lock tight..... and repeat for the other side

I spent a week trying to get these sleeves out once i did it this way 2 hours start to finish...... on my 93 F150 Ext cab 4x4 limo..
