Fords new 6.3 Diesel

Just heard that Ford is working on their new 6.3 liter Diesel. It is going to replace the 6.0. I think they said it was coming out around 2008. Has anyone else heard anything about this?

I heard a rumor that Ford is trying to make a bid on getting Cummings motors. Sounds wacky to me.

Cummins makes great engines. I really like the Cummins engine that Dodge uses - too bad they put it into a Dodge...

Also heard rumors of a 6.3, but don't know who's going to make it.

From what I heard it will still be the Powerstroke, just in an updated 6.3 version.

That just won't die. Ford does not own any part of Cummins.

Read THIS on Cummin's web site.

The 6.0 motor was totally developed by International, and now Ford realizes that they should have been involved with International on the engine control system. The new motor is the same motor, with more displacement, and with a Ford engine control system. The problems that have been happening with the 6.0 are all due to the engine control system, and while they have been persistant in some vehicles, the problems have been in relatively few units.

I also hear that the new motor is coming out sooner, rather than later, possibly even as early as '06 models.

Well, guess that settles that. I've heard the same thing for years, and thought it was true. Typical rumor out of control issue! Thanks for the info!

Its an international engine, 6.3L, i also heard twin turbos. But less for power, and more for the purpose of emissions.

Yes, stock. By pumping more air through you get a cleaner burn. Of course, by pumping more air through, this will allow the aftermarket to pump more fuel in and get more power....
