throttle body
once again, i have an 87 f150 with a 302 and EFI. there is a broken plastic piece on my throttle body. it is orange in color (which probably doesn't matter). it is sort of tube-like, like a thick orange straw, that covers one of the cables that actually pulls open the throttle. also, if i remember correctly, it has a spring coiled around it. does anyone know what this piece is called, so i can know what to ask for at the autostore? thanks. also, how important is that piece, and what is its purpose?

Well jon,I'll take a shot.That orange tube is probably a protective covering for the core of the cable.It should slide into the outer protective covering when you press the accelerator.If you feel it is broken,the only way to know is to look at a new part,which is gonna be the complete cable,and probably only available at FORD.There was a post earlier called"engine races" and he was having the throttle get stuck.I posted a warning for him to check the ends of the cable for fraying but I,m wondering if its not that orange tube that might be hanging up.
