Can someone tell how to run the engine self test on a 90 F150 with 300 I6. Ed Bamba mentions this in July posts, but never explains it...has something to do with a jumper wire. Also, is there an easy way to test the EGR valve? Thanks.
Tim, go to this web site and read the instructions. http://dalidesign.com/hbook/eectest.html
Instead of hooking up a test light or VOM, simply sit behind the wheel and observe the "Check Engine" light as it flashes. If you miss any of the codes or loose track of the number of flashes, you can restart the self test over again. Have a pad and pencil ready before you begin the test. Also, don't be alarmed if you hear what sounds like electrical arching, just make sure you hook up the jumper wire to the correct terminals and that there are no bare wires protruding from the jumper wire.
If I missed anything I'm sure someone will set me straight. Good luck and let me know how it works.
