Just so you know:

If you mow the whole 6 acres with the 21" push mower, you will have walked 28.28 miles.
If you mow 2 acres, it will be 9.4 miles.

They do say walking is good exercise. Personally, I'd be watching ebay for one of these:
http://www.ingersoll-inc.com/vac.html
That mounts behind one of these:

That is my mission. to get some kind of exercise. Getting kinda chubby now. When I was younger I had 6 pack abs, they turned into 12 pack, a case, then the keg. I now feel link I'm carrying the while beer truck.

That's crazy. 6 acres by hand!!!!!

I'm glad to see you toned it down to 2 acres by hand.

I mow 5 open acres now as an addition to the 2 the house is on. Hey it keep's my dad paying for insureance.

With a 46" Riding Mower. Now that i've been bush hoggin' on the farm since i've been old enough to be able to. And our Riding mower is dying.

I'm convinsing my dad to Buy either a Ford 9N or Farmall H. Rebuild the motor and use it for another 50 years. Use it with a Woods RM360 finishing mower. It would mow it pretty quick.

My buddy has a JD 2355, An AC5050, A 105hp JD(not sure the model), And a JD 900HC that he uses to mow his yard. And he says the RM360 is great.

You know you could of just Bought a bagger attachment for the mower and Took your wife on Romantic walks intead!!! I think to the woods an hour of "exercise"and back is alot more exercise than Mowing

Later

DT

Ummmmm, No wife. Tried that already & after 7 years I got out of it. I must have broken a mirror right before I got married.

Ya, I could have bought a bagger attachment for the mower but I figured it I purchase that much I would just buy a new rider with attachments.

Do people frown on getting excercise from good ol' fashioned work? I'm getting mixed feelings from reading this thread.

I went about the property today & found a whole lot of other work I can do to. I had to find a reason to get a bobcat 864 with tracks. I can keep it busy for awhile. Probally end up renting on of those. Don't quite have the funds to purchase one right yet.

Parks, you should have bought a Toro, I just picked up a 22inch "Recycler"/"Personal Pace" Self -propelled 6HP walk behind mower. It is sweet Set me back 350. I only have a 1/2 acre, and have no use for a rider. The Toro Company has been making some good products lately.

Parks aren't you a trucker? I am, and I deliver food products. I drag the pallet to the trailer tailgate, offload/stack and handtruck the stuff inside. It is great exercise. I am in the best shape as can be expected for a 42 year old couch potato.

Yep but I don't touch my freight. Although I am built OK I honestly don't think I can handle offloading a steel plate that is close to 40 thousand pounds.

Yep I pull a skateboard & can still back it up.

I do get a work out when I secure & tarp my load but I didn't feel it was enough to justify all the junk food that we as truck driver's have available to eat.

Plus working at home will help teach my children the value of work itself.
