Instrument Voltage regulator

Due to recent fluctuations in my instrument readouts, I am looking to replace the instrument voltage regulator on the back of the dash on my 1982 F150. Any suggestions on replacements? Are there more accurate aftermarket ones available, or am I stuck with OEM.

Thanks

Why do you think the voltage regulator is bad?

Did your gauges quit working?

Most comon problem is the voltage regulator loses ground and the gauges peg.

Need to clean the ground, and clean the printed circut if this is the case.

OEM is 90% of the time, always a better alternative than aftermarket. Aftermarket parts are nortoriously inferior made in china stuff.

I'm thinking regulator is bad because the gauges fluctuate...inconstant readouts

Welcome to FTE

D1AZ10804A .. ICVR = Instrument Cluster Voltage Regulator (Motorcraft GR513)

Fits: 1971/86 F100/350 // 1971/90 Econoline / 1978/86 Bronco / Myriad 1971/79 Passenger Cars.

Usually when this puppy begins to fail, the needles of the gauges (except amp gauge) "dance the Hula."

In other words...instead of remaining somewhat constant, they swing back and forth on their own.

This same problemo has affected all these ICVR's since first introduced in 1957.

And...since there are...at least...10 different types, take the old one with you to the parts store to make sure you get the correct one.

Or you can buy it from a FoMoCo dealer =

MSRP: $78.36 // FTE sponsor Y2KFORDPARTS.COM price: $42.31 / Y2K = MILLENNIUM FORD in Seattle WA.

Is this part available in the UK? If not, I know of US sources that will send it to you by Fed-Ex.

Hey, thanks a lot, that's really helpful. Didn't think they'd be that expensive though, the certainly don't look expensive!.

ICVR's are very expensive. The cheapest one I found was 40 bucks. When I replaced my circuit paper,I made sure I grabbed the ICVR too.BTW,if you're not sure how it comes off,it simply snaps on and off with a snap button.Be careful not to damage the circuit paper when unsnapping the ICVR.

If I were you,i'd try cleaning the Circuit paper first. That was my first try,but it didn't work.My gauges didn't even work or light up when I got my truck.
