the blower motor i just installed is now stuck on low is this normal i then saw on the panel that it only has high and low no off what gives. i swaped all these parts from a donor truck when i installed the factory a/c in it today. and the blower motor only has low it won't go higher and the rheostat gets very hot will almost burn you if you touch it. any ideas
If I remember right, the lower slider should shut the blower off when positioned all the way to the left. Thats how I remember it but my controller has been busted for a while. Just bought another one on ebay, should have it next week.
Gas hog....He's right. The off position is the bottom slide lever. Position it to the left. If it makes you feel any better, I did something as bad as you when I first put mine in. I left the bottom slide lever all the way to the left. I flipped my blower motor switch up and down. Then I couldn't figure out why my blower wouldn't work for several minutes. The A/C control panel just doesn't work the same as our old heater control panels. I felt pretty dumb. I was looking all through my wiring and everything before I finally looked at my control panel and saw that off switch to the left.
Now for the bad news. If it only blows low....and no medium or high....you have another problem some where. The switch to the far left should turn the blower motor to a higher speed as you go up with the switch. Also that rheostat shouldn't get that hot. Look for anything obvious and get back with me. I'm sure we can iron this out.
Doc.
Not sure about that one Gas hog....I'll let you know by this evening. I do know to turn it off there is an off position on the lower lever that slides left to right.
Doc
ok guys i fixed it. the problem was i assumed that the orange wire with the female prong would be connected to the male prong. well wrong guess it turns out if connected bacwards it still supplies power. so i switched the red and the orange around and now it works like it should.now to finish it. thanks
yes, those are them if you hook the red one to the brown wire in the main harness it allows power to be feed all the time through the rheostat and into the blower motor. the red wire must be hooked up to the brown wire coming off the switch.
right now i am working on some custom a/c vents to provide rear air. my friend works at tap plastics and can make some about 1 '' thick then i am going to use some of the thin vents from a dodge durango for the back. i'll keep you posted on how it goes
i also didn't like just the high and low switch with no off. so i just swaped the switch from my old one over now i can just leave it set in the a/c position and have the ability to switch it off without have to slide it back and forth.
