To remove the door panels in my 99' I had to: 1)Remove the black plastic piece on the inside where the mirror is attached. It just snaps in. 2)Remove the courtesy light at the bottom of the door by prying it out with a screwdriver(you'll see the slot at the end where you need to pry.) Remove the bolt behind the light cover. 3)Remove the panel with the lock and window controls in it by prying the forward end up first and then sliding it forward. 4)Unplug the wires and then remove the bolt under this cover. 5)Then pick up on the panel and pull it away from the door.
I had mine off so I could change my lock acuators but it looked fairly easy to get to the speaker once the panel is off. Hope this helps.
I have an 01 crewcab.
How do i remove the front door panels to replace the stock speakers?
Mine is powered window. Do I need any special tools?
1. Pry the switch panel up, and unhook the wires. You will find a screw there....remove.
2. Pry off the molding that is at the front edge of the window frame.
3. Pry off the door light lens. You will find a second screw there....remove.
4. Pull straight up on door panel to release the hooks on the panel. While you have it in that position...(unhooked, but not removed)...reach down inside the panel, and turn the light socket a quarter turn counter clockwise to remove.
5. The panel should be free.

Looks like the panel removal is already covered, what type of speaker did you get? I replaced mine with Boston Acoustics, got them at a great price for all four.
