I have 88 f150 4x4 with 4.9L .Problem started as I was pulling away for driveway
and got 50 yards down the road when engine just quit. It rolled to a stop and
it will turn over fine but will not fire. I have 11.5 volts to the positive side of
coil and same at tach side but no spark at coil wire . The resistance measurements across the secondaries are within limits.I have tried a couple of
used coils with no success and also tried a new coil with the same results.
The ignition control module has also passed all resistance checks. A test light
flashes brightly when tested on tach side as engine is cranked over but no spark.Coil wire passed resistance check . I will be checking PIP out voltage but
I am out of ideas after that , any ideas would be appreciated.
is your fuel pump working, my '87 did the the same thing about a month ago, would crank over fine, but no start, spark was fine, my problem turned out to be the ground wire on the high pressure fuel pump had came loose, and lost contact. hope this helps.
good luck.
