Ramboss,
Drink more - it'll do wonders for his business!
Ernie
He is the reason why my truck project never gets worked on. He yells across the street to my shop from the bar window "I'll buy ya one" You all know what that leads to......
Dang you have it nice, get ****'d at the truck while working on it through your tools break stuff etc (face it we've all done this ), then walk 15-20feet down the block to where there's always cold beer and bottles of the good hard stuff .

I also have my old dorm refrigerator in the shop full of Coors Light
I think the majority of the Off Road readers would fit right in around my shop
To make it even better, I'm in the country and the bar is also in the country, so no matter how drunk I get I can always manage to ride my 4 wheeler home....
If it was me in the situation he is in I would rebuild it. But, he is strapped for cash and I figured if my tranny would work we'd just use mine and he could have it.
Couldn't you just pull all the parts out of the divorced tranny and put it in the one from the bronco?
I just want two put my 2 cents in about vehile classifcation. In ia my wifes windstar is call a truck. I can't see see how a pick-up and a van could be called the same, but on there registarion thay are billed the same. Oh and Bronco or explore are SUV's, and are billed at near 3 times that of a "truck".
THEMS FIGHTIN WORDS RIGHT THERE, The 351 cleveland was one of the best engines ford ever built IMO
I guess it depends on if you have to run what you're stuck with. They suffer from the same fate as the other 335 series engines (read: 30,000 mile rod and main bearing tune-up) because of terrible oiling systems which I admit can be fixed, but that costs time and money. That and woo hoo 351 cubes...watch for a necessity of high-RPM use to get any power out of. Oh wait...high RPM is when a factory 335 series burns up crank bearings.....
Oh yeah, and how about lifter ticks that cannot be permanently remedied with ANYTHING (pushrods, lifters, etc.). Maybe one could drill and tap the heads for adjustable rocker arm studs........
Maybe BEST FOR A PINTO.

Yep. Been around many, many, many 335's........own a Cleveland, too. The wife's Torino. Had to turn the crank and install new bearings at 56K. Dad's Bronco, same thing at 47K (400, but basically same thing except crank journal size). There are 3 400's running around the Ranch with less than 1 PSI at idle and 5 PSI max at 3000 RPM, but at least the bearings are getting oil.
The wife's car runs OK, but it's a high-rpm, no torque having junker and I'd rather put $500 in 460 parts than $67,854,223 to get the same amount of go in a Stroker Cleveland.
Well my old boat anchor 79 400 has 134.000 miles on it oil pressure fair no rattles or ticks.
But like all smoggers it ain't got enough power to pull the peverbial sick prostitute of the potty. And it has an addiction to gas pumps.
Cody I'm sensing a deep emotional distress here. You must not let the fear of rattling main bearing and and lifters that like to swap holes have such a hold on you. Don't keep your feelings bottled up you should just let it all out.
You are right about the oil system being less then perfect, On your torino, what journal was messed up the worst? Id bet #4 or #5 They are the most common to be starved of oil, to fix this all that needs to be done is to run an external oil line from port in the block where the sending unit screws in to the oil plug at the back of the block. Doesent take much time or money.
