Well, I know some of you have fallowed the nightmare I call my truck that I've been dealing with. I finally got the ground up resto done, and what I thought was all the bugs worked out of it, only to come out after blowing white smoke to figure that out to find it was Hydrolocked... So lets say my motor guys I paid to build the motor don't like me much right now. It ended up being a sleve slipped that was installed and was pushing the head up barrely any which in turn gave the coolant somewhere to go... The cylinder. So now we have figured that out and are in the process of figureing how much of the motor is getting replaced.
We know the block isn't getting used again. And the pass. side head.... We are thinking that it getting replaced with a long block and then we'll use all the stuff I already have to finish the job.
What my question is would be this. I'm looking to atleast help the guy out since he's paying for it. He's a good guy. And I don't want him to get hit to hard by the bill.. But he is taking the bill. So I was wondering who would know of a reliable company to go through for buying a new Longblock for my PSD. I've been told be a few that Jasper is good, and i've been told by just as many that they aren't. I know its originally an INternational Motor so ofcourse thats an option to just get it from them. What do you guys think?
I got a buddy who owns a wrecker company and puts all new Jasper transmissions in them(There are 30+ of them) when the Ford's fail, Jasper gives him 3 yr 75K warranty on the whole tranny, and he doesnt have problems outta them, but i guess you'd hafta find out what the warranty is on the block
wow that is the crappiest thing i heard about a psd all day!!!! i would search on ebay for a used motor or a long block. they usually have some on there. i think you can buy a running used one for about a grand. then tear it down and do some machine work on it and you should be good to go.
Call Dale Lakin at www.powerstrokeshop.com (you will have to cut and paste that) They have a national powertrain program that will get it to you from the closest place and frieght is free in most places. Great guy and great place to buy from.
Well, I had a budy of mine talk to the ford stealership by my work and a long block was like 6 grand with our discount.. I thought that to be high, since I know on some sites I've found new motors for 7.. Although that didn't have a core charge, and the motors for 7g's were after you did a core swap.. Never the less.. For anyone ever getting warranty.. Get one as big as possible.. Cause you don't want to be paying for the thigns that I have been!!!! I'm BROKE! lol
