I am currently restoring a 79 F100 with the 3-speed on the column. My shifter lever could be in better shape and I have been scouring the junk yards here in central Texas as well as the internet sites, but have not been able to find a shifter.
I'm pretty sure the 3-speed shifter is longer than the auto. shifters. And I think the 78-79 3-speed shifters are different from the 73-77 shifters. Anyone know of a place where I can get a decent replacement that I could re-chrome or a new/repro?
I think I may have seen one the other day at the wrecking yard in Waco. If I can get back by there in the next few days, I'll check it out and let you know. If a 73 to 77 shifter would work, I know where one of those are for sure.
Mike
I'll work on the answer to see if the 73-77 is the same as the 78-79. I know the steering column shift collars are wider on the 78-79, but the shifters might be the same.
