I was on the way home towing my trailer, and the truck just stop pulling while going down the road. Pulled over, and put it in netural and tried to rev it up and it acts like it wont take the fuel.
Towed the truck home, Took my chip out, returned ECM back to stock.
Truck has a hard time starting, but when it does, it will not idle, if you just barely touch the pedal it will idle just fine, but when you let go of the pedal, it is searching for idle, spitting ,spurting etc etc, and when you drive to give it alot of pedal, it wont take it at all, it tries to die. Try and and drive it, and it will not go at all, tries to die,
Chances are good that your EGR valve failed- Common issue... It happened to me and many others. If it isn't the EGR, there are several other common issues that the dealers seem to be able to easily troubleshoot.
Good luck & please keep us posted as to the specific problem & solution-
It will idle and run on its own, but it will smoke the hole yard up, blue smoke,To tell you the truth it runs like a gas engine that has 5 spark plugs that are fouled out.And it also back fires/pops thru the intake/turbo. I check for water in the fuel, and even changed the oil, and that made it worse, now it runs even worse. Like I said it runs, like its has fouled out spark plugs,, which i know it doesnt have plugs, thats just the only way i could think to describe it.:O)
ru,
Clearly you need to get it in to the dealer asap- They are usually quite proficient at troubleshooting operational problems. In fact, it seems that the toughest problems to solve are the intermittant type as opposed to what you have described-
utha
you are correct. it is easier for a dealer tech to find a problem when it's happening then intermittant.
ru good luck i hope every thing turns out ok for you
To "ruufast", I've had the same problems with my '04, 6.0l, 4x4...sometimes it just loses all power..put the pedal to the floor and no response, only the RPMs go up but not in acceleration. have had it to the dealer 3x with no luck on repairs.
Well the dealership has changed the EGR and ICP sensor...but still no luck..I hear alot about the EGR but that didnt fix my troubles...It also has a loud back blow chatter sound coming from what sounds like the turbo?? any ideas??
