It seems that the integrated brake does not work at slow speeds. Is this normal? At speeds above 20 mph, I get trailer braking. Shouldn't it stay engaged 'till a full stop? Mike (Heavy trailer:10,000#'s)
Wow - we haven't experienced anything like that with ours. It definately stays engaged to a complete stop. Our 5'er is ~10,000 lb, too. In fact, I absolutely love the integrated brake system. Our trailer with the old pickup and an after-market trailer break controller would be either on or off, and when on - seriously locked up, no matter what setting was dialed in. And the controller was so low under the dash you had to take your eyes off the road to reach it. The integrated controller, right on the dash, with the push-buttons, is SOOOO much better! Take it back to the dealer, and make 'em fix it.
Thanks, took our first trip last weekend.....SEEMED like if I slowed to 15 mph and then applied the brakes, only the truck brake applied. I wondered at what speed the trailer brakes don't also engage.
If you do a search I remember a thread in the last couple of weeks about this. The thread had a copy of the Ford bulletin on the subject and if memory serves me correct only after your truck gets above 20 mph does the brake controller fully engage.
I found it in the trailer towing forum, and don't know how accurate it is, but I know it has a lot of people pulling their hair out. I hope Ford did indeed fix the problem. Hope it helps someone.
