Question 4.9 Multi-problem Eec-iv ?????

Hello, New To To The Forum. I've Got A 1990 F150 4x4 , 4.9 Liter -(stock). Problems Just Started 137,000 Miles. Rear Fuel Pump Went Out(terrible Noise) Replaced It And The Filter. Next Day Battery Was Dead Charged It Up And Was Dead The Next Day- And Alternator Was Out Replaced It. Now Truck Runs Like Crap. Code Read Erratic Pick-up Assembly And Oxygen Sensor. Replaced Pick-up Assembly, Tfi, O2 Sensor, Plugs, Plug Wires Cap And Bug.retimed Engine. Runs Better. But Cold Start-up Is Terrible, And Sluggish -no Power Like It Is Falling Flat On The Take-off And On Hills. Get A Code 31 With The Engine-on Test. Could My Eec-iv Computer Have Been Burned Out When The Alternator Ran My Battery Dead?????? Also Took To A Ford Dealer For A Code Read. They Said All That They Got Was An O2 Sensor Code. Took To Another Mechanic - He Found A Slight Vac. Leak -replaced Intake Gasket And Vac. Hose. No Change As Far As I Can Tell.help Please- I Am So Frustrated.thanks To All Replies.

Sounds like lack of fuel. Has the fuel pressure been checked with the new fuel pump. Did you replace all of the fuel filters?

Thumbs up My Current Problem

I Thought It Only Had One Filter On The Frame Rail. The Big One. Checked It Again Today And Seems Clean. Easy To Blow Through. I Think It Is Lack Of Fuel Too. Don't Have A Way To Test Pressure, But Will Probably Buy A Tester Soon. Where Is There Another Filter. The New Pump Had One That I Put On When I Changed It Out. Thanks For The Advice - Much Appreciated.fishdaddy.

I am just a novice here. Hopefully some of the pros will chime in and give you some help too. I am not positive how many fuel filters you have, but sounds like the one on the fuel pump and on the frame rail may be all there is.

I think everyone would be interested to know what you have for fuel pressure at the fuel rail.

Did you get the O2 fail code after the 02 sensor was replaced? From what I know you will have serious problems until that 02 sensor is working.

Yes , Got The Code 31 After Replacement. But I Am Also Told That A Code 31 Lean O2 Sensor Reading Could Be A Lack Of Fuel As Well As The Sensor. , Kinda Makes Sense??????
