Wrap?

I recently installed a Walker Downpipe on my 95 F150 with the 300 six cylinder. It may just be me, but I think the underhood temperatures are a lot higher. I was wondering would it be worth my time to wrap the downpipe in header wrap? And where would you guys suggest to look for the best wrap?

Thermo-Tec makes a good wrap, but most (if not all) header manufacturers will not honor any warranty claims if they have been used. They do help to keep the underhood cooler, but all that heat stays in the headers and can cause them to warp, melt, crack, etc.

They can also hold in moisture. Uncoated headers or pipes will not last long that way.

OK, so any ideas as to how to cut down on the underhood heat? I would like the rest of the components under there to last and not fail due to the heat.

Is the wrap worth it or is there something else? The underhood temps are noticably higher with the walker pipe so I want to cut that down a little.

If nothing else, adjust your hood so the rear part (just in front of the windshield) is slightly higher. Not so high that it looks bad, but it will help out a lot with underhood temps.
