Hmm, a guy used to run those on a cascar here in town, but they were fairly loud on that application. Thrush used to make them for off road use only but stopped because people were complaining about getting fined while using them on the street. Summit sells stainless ones though.
Well on a hopped up Chev small block they are LOUD, don't remember the sizs of pipe though. A single shouldn't sound bad on a 6 though. I'm actually thinking my '77 Dodge might like a pair of 3" ones once I get the good motor for it. My neighbors will love me.
Yea that's where i saw them. But like $140 for a 3" one.
What do they do for sound?
Not much
They were an attempt to muffle a little sound without being a restriction at all. If you have ever heard how your engine sounds with no mufflers, adding these pieces will not be very far off. Possibly a slightly deeper tone, from the larger chambers vs. straights.
