well i just experienced the great plug blow out. it busted a coil as well. I have 125k on my 2001 f150 i changed the plugs at about 80,000 and i am used to all the COP problems. Due to the fact i always have more crap than any one in my truck i had an extra plug and another coil in my tool box i was able to get another plug started??? although i don't think very good i could see threads on on side of the plug that blew out. i put another coil on This was all done with my flash light at 10:30 at night.
any way it got me home now i am wondering what to do? were can i get a timesert kit? only over the phone from timesert? what should i expect to pay?
I don't have any choice but to very easily drive my truck till i get it fixed its that or call in sick from work for a while.
another question i have is if this plug i put it blows it is probely going to take what is left of the threads with it would it be totally out of the question if that happens to unplug the coil and injector from that cylender and limp it home the 20 miles or would that do major damage?
I don't think that the BigSert will blow out. Have a look at how it's put in. You will get the additional four threads that Ford didn't put in. Not onlay that but you'll have 8 threads on the inside and outside of the timesert
