Radio Static when turned off
I have a 02 F150 Supercrew and everytime I turn off the ignition, a short loud static noise comes out of the speakers.
The speakers will also continue to thud at random intervals after that for some time after (hours).
Has this been seen before, is the stock radio defective?
Thanks,
Fred.
If stock, check your all your ground wires. Also check your alternator wires and ground. Sometimes a bad Diode in the Alternator can cuase this too!!! I know that sometimes bad grounding can cause feedback frequency noise from the ignition. Also, check to see if a spark plug wire isnt exposed and slightly discharging on bare metal. Also check to se that there is no exposed wiring along the way to your speakers. I know it sounds like alot of guesswork but there are too many variables that can be the source of this problem, sorry!
If it is an aftermarket system check for these same problems plus if you are running any amps make sure your RCA (Stereo Patch) cables are run on the oposite side of the vehicle from your Power wires.
If all else fails, take it to a Stereo Installation shop and they can usually diagnose the problem with thier test equipment!
Wish I coulda been more precise!
