AUTO LOCKING HUBS

I THINK MY AUTO HUBS HAVE GONE SOUTH... IF I TURN HARD TO THE RIGHT I GET A MAJOR THUMPING THAT CAN ONLY BE CORRECTED BY BACKING UP..ALL THE INFO I HEAR IT THAT THE AUTO HUBS HAVE A LIMITED LIFE, MY 94F-350 HAS 95K MILES ON IT. I HAVE THE 5 BOLT HUBS AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE WARN HUBS ARE A DIRECT BOLT ON APPLICATION, I HAVE HAD THE AUTO HUBS OFF, THEY APPEAR TO BE FUNCTIONAL, NO VISUAL WEAR,BROKEN SPRINGS ETC...THE LAST PLACE I WANT TO TURN TO IS THE LOCAL FORD DEALER, THEY HAVE A REPUTATION FOR STICKING YOU ON REPAIRS, ANYONE GOT ANY IDEAS ? THANKS

AUTO LOCKING HUBS

L.Rich, Go aftermarket with out a doubt. Warn, Mile Marker, Superwinch, all good ones. The auto hubs are junk. Mine failed on a 90 big Bronco I used to have, with no warning. I tore them completely apart and could see nothing wrong with them. They would slip when you would put drivetrain load against them.

AUTO LOCKING HUBS

I agree with Superdave. My thought on auto hubs is use em 'till they give you trouble, and then replace em with manual lockouts. I'll be replacing mine as soon as I have a couple extra bucks.
