fuel injector?

this morning my truck was running rough only when there was a strain on the engine. it was kinda like it was missing, felt just like when one of my cop's went bad, but my check engine light did not come on. so i changed my fuel filter and it was just about pluged all the way and trash came out of the fuel line going back to the tank. then i drove the truck and it is doing the same thing. i think that one of the injectors has trash in there. what is the best way to clean injectors. with or with out removing them, i have the weekend to clean them.
has any body else had this problem

thanks

I am having this problem right now ('99 F150 4X4).

I changed the plug wires, fuel pump relay, and the fuel filter. It kind of helped, but my fuel pump had low pressure (it should be between 27 and 44(?), but was only 30).

I will be doing a search of the forum after I post this to see if I am stuck buying the whole fuel sender unit (I am hoping that I only have to replace a component of the fuel sender).

I will post the fix that works for me.

PS ..... my fuel filter was full of crud as well (not to mention that the filter could not be taken off with the filter wrench and I had to cut it off with diagonal cutters).

well i spent all weekend working on my truck and i had came to a dead end. i replaced my fuel pump and the IAC and still my truck still felt like it was missing. i came and read up on some more post and someone said that boush platnum plugs do not work very well on newer ford trucks, and i just changed my plugs and put boush plugs in. so i pulled my plugs out and cleaned them up and now my truck runs good. i am going to go and but the motorcraft or autolight plugs this week and change them out. does anybody know why boush platnum plugs dont work in the new ford trucks? i have used them for years and no proplems.

Always stick to the stock sparkplugs on these engines.

You mentioned that you had trash in the line going back to the tank. What’s to say that there wasn't more and your filter is clogged again? Not sure if there is a way, but try to see if you can activate the pump with the line going into an old gas can to make sure you don't have more "trash" in the line. Also see if you can blow the line from the filter to the injectors to make sure nothing is in there as well.

yea i disconected the line coming from the tank and turned the key and ran about 1/2 gallon of gas and there wasnt any thing in there but gas, no trash. but by changing my spark plugs it cleared everything up no more missing i guess that boush plugs dont work in trucks with COPs because my dad used boush on his 98 with the 4.6 and no problems
