I have a 1bbl Solex down-draft carb on a 4cyl boat motor that had a little dead spot right off idle. It had a lot of leaks so I took it off. Boiled it in carb cleaner for a couple of days and put in a kit. Now the dead spot is even bigger.
It's right off idle like the transfer slot is plugged or something, but I've gone throught it again a couple of times and I can't find anything in any of the passages. It doesn't matter if it has a load or at idle in neutral it dies if you don't transition through the dead spot. Once it gets going you can pull it back a little and it's fine. The accel pump works and is adjusted to give as much shot as possible. The idle jet is adjusted out as rich as I can go and that made it a little better, but didn't get rid of it.
Anybody have any experience with these old carbs? Any ideas? The throttle shaft is fairly tight, everything else is working just fine. I'm kinda stumped here.
