fuel filter

my ranger is a 2003 with a manual transmission, 3.0 liter. where is the fuel filter located? which brand would be the best to get for this engine? what are the steps of replacing this filter? thanks.

Fuel Filter Disconnect

The fuel filter is located underneath the truck, along the driver's side frame rail.

There are a couple of different ways the fuel lines get disconnected, depending on the type of filter assembly used:

(1) If your Ranger's fuel filter connectors have the black plastic fittings with color coded inserts (usually green and orange), then you need to take a small screwdriver and push on the colored tabs and pull the lines away from the filter.

(2) If your Ranger's fuel filter has the spring lock type of connectors, then you will need the "disconnect tool" to get them off, here is a more detailed discussion on the process:
