I Have A 2000 F250. I Have A Exhaust Leak I Cant Seem To Find. I Have Looked Around The Down Pipe, The Y-pipe That Feeds The Turbo. Looked Around The Manifolds The Best I Can.
Does The Powerstroke Have A Common Place That It Usually Leaks Exhaust, Anyone Have Any Ideas Of Places I Might Look.
I Was Thinking Maybe Around The Wastegate Shaft? I Cant Seem To Find Any Exhaust Residue Anywhere..
It Sounds Like Its Leaking When I Accelerate Hard, Or While Im Pulling And Accelerateing.
It only makes the noise when im under a load, like towing, or accelerating hard.
It sounds like a blown header gasket, like on a hot rod. Ticking/clicking sound.
I have re-positioned the down pipe vband clamp, repositioned the vband clamp on the y-pipe that feeds the turbo. checked the exhaust housing bolts, checked the turbo mounting bolts.Im at a lose, and i hate that noise.
My buddy had the same thing, and his drivers side manifold was leaking where it bolts to the head, you could see and feel the exhaust coming out while it was idling. Mine is not that bad. But i have inspected my manifolds and cant find a leak.
When my dads truck made that noise it was an exhaust manifold that was warped. It took us forever to find it but we had to replace it to fix the noise. After that it was fine. Friend that is an engineer for Ford and International said it is a comman problem and ford makes manifold gasket kits to fix it now.
im in the same boat 2000 sd250 sounds like exhaust down pipe is cracked when i get on the gas hard even worse when towing...taken exhaust off , changed driverside manifold , cant seem to find exhaust residue anywhere bout to trade yhis truck in been good till this.. easy fix ill keep no cure quick will trade in
chech the exhaust back pressure tube that comes off of front of right manifold
i'll bet he is right.....it sounds like its ticking right??? look in front of the right side front tire... just above the frame rail..you will see a steel tube the size of a brake line comming out of the manifold..it rust and blows holes though it after a while...the tube works its way up to the EBPS..that sits just front of the HPOP..it has wire going to the top of it..that steel tube goes to the bottom of it..

i work on 18 wheeler exhaust. u should try replacing that v clamp. i get alot of trucks with that problem. the clamp stretches, espesailly if it has been taken off before. if that doesn't work try your manifold. if that don't work. i'm not sure. good luck.
