Integrated Brake Controller Problem

I'm pulling a 15k fiver with my 2005 F350 DRW CC with the integrated brake contoller. When I start on a trip my brakes work smoothly. However, after a couple of hundred miles of normal driving and brake use the trailer jerks uncontrollably when I step on the brakes. I'm forced to take my foot off the brake pedal and use the brake controller lever to slow down or stop. Using the brake controller alone totally eliminates the jerking. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem may be?

I would make sure all connections from the controller to the brake pedal, etc., are clean and tight. Disconnect and reconnect all connections in the trailer brake system and see if that solves your problem. If not probably need to have the trailer brake system components checked to see if anything is failing especially when they get hot.

If they work normal when using the controller by hand then the trailer brakes are OK, my best guess would be that the anti lock in the truck is acting up, they run the controller through it, IMO that was a bad idea. I have trouble with the anti locks in my DRW when in the mountains and braking to slow down with no throttle and about 55 or above the truck brakes will start jerking and with my old control that would start the trailer brakes doing the same thing. I went to a Brakesmart controller that operates off of the brake pressure like the new Ford controller but it comes off the master cylinder before the ABS system, I hope it solves some of the problem. I'm going in the mountains in August so I will find out.

If its the ABS good luck trying to duplicate the problem for the service department.
