brake controller for trailer
A friend of mine is trying to tell me that I do not need a brake controller to activate the brakes on the trailer. He says all I need to do is install the relays and the brakes on the trailer will work. I'm pretty sure that the only integrated brake controller Ford offered was on the 2010 and later. My truck has a tow package I have the wiring harness in the glove box. He says the brake controller acts as a booster only.
Im calling BS on his theory. Can someone confirm before i pull a trailer and wreck because of his whackass theories?

Brake controller
The brake controller is if you are towing a larger trailer like a camper with electrical brakes. As for the lights, there should be a relay with your wire harness that will go into the fuse panel and it will be showed on the instructions. If you are towing a normal trailer like a boat or small flat trailer with a 4 pin connector, you do not need either for the lights to work properly.
