This is about what I was looking to get as well. If we could get someone to be so kind, that has desktop dyno, could we possibly get some numbers? (with headers)
Just so you know. Edelbrock recomends certain gaskets for their stuff. I know I ordered the gaskets cause I also used their heads. If you use the stock heads you might not need to use the special Fel-pro gaskets. Ask summit about gaskets when you order. You may be able to use standard Fel-Pro gaskets.
looks good, what is the compression ratio supposed to be with that rebuild kit? I assume there are pistons included. just make sure the resulting comp ratio is within your cam specs. The 941 likes about 9.5:1.
The fel-Pro performace head gasket with a cmopressed thickness of .041" is a popular and dependable choice. Again, confirm that this fits in with your desired comp ratio build. there are other gaskets available in different thickness to help get that desired com ratio.
look at Napa for the Victor niro-Seal intake manifold gasket set, and I reccomend you use the cork end seals with the Performer RPM intake. others may disagree.
You should run a search in this forum for a lot of info about your build...You should easily be able to answer most any question in here...
Brandon, what kind of pistons does that kit come with ? 99 out of 100 kits have the truck pistons in them. The truck pistons are the ones that give less than 8 to 1 when assembled with compostion head gaskets ( .041 thick ). Building with the '66-70 car style pistons is a HUGE improvement. Find out which pistons are in that kit, and we'll tell you if they are the ones you want or not. DF, @ his Dad's house
This is a kit that Kurt told me to get he said that the kit is for a newer 70 some model truck 360. He told me that they are the same as the 390 HP car pistons. Is this true?
Yup, I believe 360 piston is the same as the 390 car piston. And it should give about 9.5:1 if I remember correctly. That's probably why Kurt reccomended it.
I would stick with the SV or Standard volume oil pump. This with the head restrictors will work just fine. The motor should be in the 9.5 range. If you go to the copper head gaskets, the 941 might prefer that little bump in CR. I am running very similar but use the 901 cam on the regular .041 fel-pro's.
You can bump the compression a bit by using steel shim head gaskets. I purchased these from DSC.....018" thick. As Mike posted, the fel-pro's are .041" thick. If you get all of your specifications and run it through one of the compression ratio calculators you'll find it's a noticable difference.
