I own a 94 f-150....the problem I have is as if I have no first gear left or something...My stick shift is not holding it's position and falls to the side when I try to put it in first or 3rd
goes into 2nd, forth and fifth ok..
any suggestions???

Try to twist the shifter like a ****(right and left). Also pull up and down on it. If it wobles alot and feels like the shifter is going into the AC vent when you put it in first gear, then you have some work to do. The shifter has a ball on it that rides in two plastic cups in the top part of the housing. These cups wear out and break and fall into the tranny, leaving your shifter sloppy. The shifter also pivots on two steel pins staked to the case. One of mine worked its way out and caused a problem simular to yours. You will have to pull the tranny to replace it though. Replace the boot/dustcover, gasket, and silicone the three rubber pugs into the rear of the shifter housing or you will be gauranted a leak.

i dont know how many miles you have on the tranny, but the shift rails inside it may be just worn out. mine did this at around 160,000 miles. i started noticing it wouldnt disengage from first or third, then it wouldnt go in at all.
