I have a 79 F250 4x4 with a c6 that I am trying to take the trans out of and I can't figure out hook to unhook the shift linkage? There is a small that appears to just snap in at both ends but I can't get either end apart, there is also a rode that runs into a mount which holds it to the frame but I can't get it apart there either
any help is appreciated as I already got everything else apart, I just can't figure this linkage out and I don't want to break or bend any of the pieces
Recently I dropped C6 from 1981 F250. I removed linkage support from frame 2 bolts and disconnected nut from shifter rod. I dropped linkage with the transmission. I then used a small pipe wrench behind trans shifter arm to space it around the rod and used a C-clamp to press the rod from the grommet. This saved the grommet; which could be also pressed out prior to my rebuild. It goes back together alot easier.
