I am having problems with the caliper pins coming out on my 1990 F-450 Super Duty. It happens on both the front and rear calipers. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks
Buy new ones. Reusing them works to a degree and I have. The punched detent is what keeps them in around the rubber core. Did you do a conversion? I didn't know a 1990 had rear disc brakes.
I do use new pins and still have problems. I think I have bought 3 sets in th last year or so at approximately $20.00 an axle I have spent quite a bit on them. This was not a conversion the 1990 F-450 Super Duty came equipped with 4 wheel disc brakes.I do use the truck fairly hard but I take good care of it.I use this truck in my welding business and carry a heavy load on it all the time
Rocweld,
Didn't know the F450 came with Disc rear. Our '96 F450 has drums in back, who knew.
Try the form-a-gasket, maybe. Still you gotta wonder why they are drifting out. At the rate you are using them, they are pricey. Can you put the pins in a vise to hold them without deforming them and open up the detents a little? I've never tried, you might try an old pair if you have any around. Let us know if it works.
