I HAVE AN 88 F250 THAT IS HARD TO START AFTER IT HAS RAN FOR A WHILE, ABOUT 20 MILES OR LESS. WHEN YOU SHUT OFF THE IGNITION AND TRY TO RESTART THE ENGINE,IT JUST TURNS OVER AND SOMETIMES ACTS LIKE IT IS DIESELING WHILE ITS TURNING OVER.I SHUT THE IGNITION OFF AND TRY AGAIN. AFTER ABOUT 3 OR 4 TIMES OF THIS IT WILL START. THE ENGINE WILL SURGE AFTER IT STARTS AND WILL CLEAN UP AFTER A COUPLE OF SHORT REVS. IT ALSO HESITATES TAKING OFF FROM A STOP AFTER THE MOTOR IS AT OPERATING TEMPATURE. I HAVE HAD THIS TRUCK ABOUT A MONTH AND HAVE HEARD A BUZZING SOUND FROM THE ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP UNDER THE DRIVER SIDE FRAME RAIL, ONCE WHILE USING THE FRONT TANK AND TODAY USING THE REAR TANK. ANY ADVICE WILL BE GREATFULL THANKS!
i have a 89 f250 with a 460 and had the same problem after i would shut thu truck off it would be hard to start after that and when it did start it run rough after 3 or 4 seconds it woul smooth out and mine would also die after i would go from drive to park if your truck is efi trie cleaning out the air intake thats what i did with mine and took care of the problem as with yhe noise from the driver seat it sounds like your fuel pump might be goinig out. the location is in the frame of the truck on the diver side
My '90 F-250 had the same problem and I think my front tank has a lot of settlement in it. My truck would die for a hour after bumping down a dirt country road. I've changed the filter and used only the rear tank with no problems after that fix. A clogged filter would also put a strain on your electric fuel pump.
