I love how the new GM mid-size trucks have the adjustable tailgate. By latching the cables on a higher screw, it leaves the tailgate at an angle so you can haul long items and they won't slide out.
I just replaced the top screw on each tailgate latch (on the bed) with the same type of screw found on the bottom on the latch (The one that holds the cable)
Part # N806909S100 This is for a 1998 Ranger. My dad has a 2005 and the screws are over $5.00 each.
I got the bolts for $2.85 ea. at Ford. They were down to their last two bolts, so apparently your great idea is spreading fast. Is that torx size T-45? My T-50 was too big, and my T-40 too small.
