I think they've been using PCVs since the late 60s. Although there were some that did not use the PCV and vented the crankcase fumes directly into the air. Yours should have a PCV from what I read.
Yeah, it could have to do with the trucks and heavy duty gvw, etc. But, if you don't have one, you should put one in. You should see a slight improvement in gas mileage.
