I don't think that there is anything wrong with the system, or the button. I think that other keys are pressing the panic button in my pocket. I know I could just not use the keyfob, but I like the other features that this device is good for. I've taken the keyfob apart, and it looks like it would be pretty simple to disable the little click button for the panic function. It has 4 legs connected to the PCB. I easily cut one of the legs. But which one? Or maybe disabling the panic button is something that can be done another way.
Anyway, not an earth-shattering problem, but I would like to stop the alarm from going off with the panic button.
I guess I should have mentioned that it's a Ford product. Came with the truck. The service guy at the dealer didn't think there was anything that could be done.
Look at the back of the FOB, there should be a brand name on it. Mine also came from the dealer and it's made by Auto Mate. They have tons of remotes on their web site, some with 6 buttons. They'll program it for you.
Put a couple of wraps of black electrical tape around the controller over the top of the panic button. That worked for me and left the controller intact.

Take superglue gel and seal the panic button to the case. This way, if you every need it push hard and break the seal. Also when you sell it, someone may want that feature.
I guess we all have, at one time or another, pressed that button by accident. A while back, I re-programmed my fob-thingy to open both my vehicles. Not too long after that, my wife and I were both at my son's baseball game, with both vehicles. When I climbed up into my truck, something in my pocket pressed that panic button and BOTH of the vehicle alarms went off at the same time. Talk about embarrassing.........
